Everyone at the company filed a report at the end of every day, and that part was easy: you write down what you did, and it is all still fresh. The weekly one was due the following Monday, and by then I could rarely remember what Tuesday had been.

The material was already there, though. We all wrote our daily reports into one shared document on Feishu — the chat and docs app most Chinese tech companies run on, sold as Lark elsewhere — so a whole week of them sat in one place. The weekly form only asked for a few lines.

So you sent the bot a message. It collected last week’s entries, asked a language model to cut them down to a few points, and sent those back along with the originals so you could compare them. It was also the first thing I built with a language model, which in late 2023 was half the reason I built it.

Colleagues used it and told me it helped. It kept running until I left the company.
